Dual Enrollment Opportunities
Would you like to graduate high school with up to thirty (30) college credit hours completed?
Thanks to the partnership between Polk School District, Georgia Highlands College, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, students can participate in Dual Enrollment at both Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools through Polk County College and Career Academy. Dual Enrollment courses allow students, grades 11 and 12, to enroll in college courses and earn concurrent credit towards a high school diploma and a college degree at no-cost to the student. We offer a variety of courses, on-campus, between our Rockmart and Cedartown campuses. All of the general education courses taught on our campuses are approved for transfer between accredited Technical College System of Georgia and University System of Georgia institutions. The Course Offering Guide for students entering grades 11-12 can be found in the link below. Additional courses are offered online and off-campus based on students' interests and/or needs, as well as, college requirements/instructor availability, etc.
How do you become Program-Ready?
Students interested in Dual Enrollment Degree Level Core Curriculum Courses must meet institutional requirements for each college as well as guidelines that have been set forth by Polk School District.

POLK SCHOOL DISTRICT REQUIREMENTS/GUIDELINES DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTICIPATION
Students interested in taking Entry Level Workforce Certificate Welding Courses through the Dual Enrollment Program have the option to take evening courses on the PCCCA campus two days per week.
The requirement for these specific courses is a 2.0 cumulative GPA, and the student has to have completed the Occupational Safety class at the high school level. If a student wants to take both academic courses and welding courses, they must meet the core curriculum course requirements in the link above.
