2024 Millage Rate Information
The Polk School District Board of Education plans to raise the Tax millage rate for 2024 from 12.382 mills to 14.00 mills.
Polk School District has consistently been classified as a rural school district with low property wealth. As a result, the district annually qualifies for Georgia Equalization Grant funding and will receive approximately $7.9 million this school year. Georgia Law (O.C.G.A. ยง20-2-165(9)(c)) requires a minimum millage rate or equivalent effective millage rate of 14 mills to receive this grant, which is critical to our overall budget. The current millage rate is 12.382 mills, with a current rollback rate of 9.766 mills based on the most current tax digest. However, the Polk School District Board of Education plans to raise the millage rate to 14.00 mills to comply with the aforementioned law.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Polk School District Board of Education located at 612 South College Street, Cedartown, Georgia 30125 on July 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on August 13, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
