
Congratulations to Luke, Melanie and Samiyah. They completed our September Monday Reading Challenge and their names were drawn to win prizes.



Tomorrow is our Academic Pep Rally for students. Students are encouraged to dress up in outfits from their favorite decade to help celebrate.


We will now have Chick Fil A Biscuits for sale on Wednesday mornings. Biscuits are $4 each, cash only. We will begin sales at 7 and sell until we are sold out. Money earned helps to support incentives for our staff and students. Thank you for supporting YGES!


This week, we took the AR trophy back from Cherokee Elementary. Students earned over 300 points in just 2 school days last week. WOW!!!!! Mrs. Armer's class had the highest amount of points last week and they are keeping the trophy safe this week. Will we keep the trophy next week? READ READ READ!!!!!


Congratulations to our Staff of the month for September, Mr. D, and October, Matt Bentley. Both of these men go above and beyond daily to help students and staff have a wonderful day. We are so thankful for their presence and leadership in our school.

Mrs. Morton’s 3rd grade students in the gifted program have been volunteering in the Media Center each Wednesday. This is a service project for them. They do a wonderful job!








Some of our books have been marked as a “winner” in the Media Center. The computer will let students know at book checkout if they are a winner. They win a ghost and a bookmark. They name the ghost and read to it for 20 minutes a day. 📚👻



The Sosa Agency donated a Nintendo Switch Lite, a game and 2 tablets to our AR Program. We will give these away at our top 25 AR party. Thank you so much for your generous donation!

Based on conversations with state and local emergency management agencies regarding the incoming inclement weather from Hurricane Helene, Thursday, September 26 and Friday, September 27 will be Learn-from-Home days for all Polk School District campuses.
Please refer to communication channels from your student’s respective school/teacher for guidance and expectations regarding assignments.
A decision related to extracurricular activities/sporting events for Friday and Saturday will be announced at a later time. We apologize for the inconvenience, but will always make decisions in the best interest of our students and staff, keeping safety our first priority. As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff, we are continually monitoring updates from state and local emergency management agencies on the anticipated effects to our area from Tropical Storm Helene. The latest briefing indicates that school district operations could be impacted for Thursday and/or Friday. In an effort to help you best plan and prepare, we will provide an update regarding any potential delays or cancellations after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25. We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership.


October is National Bullying Awareness Month. Blue Shirt Day was created so schools can come together show their support for a bully-free world! Have your students wear their blue shirts on October 1st!


Good morning Parents and Guardians,
We are still trying to get all student forms completed for this school year. So far, we have 275 out of 496 parents that have completed their forms. In the attached photo, you will see a list of the forms that need to be completed online for each child. These forms are very important and are needed in case of emergency. Please log in to your Parent Powerschool account and complete the forms as soon as possible. If you need assistance, feel free to call the office or drop by and we will sit down with you and help you complete them. Thank you so much!


Tomorrow is another Spirit Day to support our hometown Cedartown Bulldogs. Cheerleaders will be here to sell items in the cafeteria from 7-7:25. Go Dogs!!!!!!


We have new point club members! Dawson and Lilly joined the 50 Point Club. Owen joined the 25 Point Club. Way to go, readers!




Mrs. Lee and Ms. Garrett’s class earned brag tags if they were able to identify 7 letters or more. Way to go, Pre-K!
